Like A Phoenix - IAYD [Free EP]
Twitter: @IAYD - For all you fans of 8 bit or chip music. Or, maybe you're looking for inspiration through listening to a different genre. I got the hook up for you.
I had to steal this from the download page: "In his sophomore 8bitpeoples release, IAYD (I Am Your Destruction) returns from the depths of the cosmos, armed with an arsenal of arresting arias. Burning white hot and furious, his concussive calls-to-arms serve as much to inspire as to enrage. Composed of three parts bĂȘte noire, two parts rancor, Like A Phoenix destroys and disrupts. Prepare yourself for the impact of this anthemic anthology, spanning the years 2008-2010. – Chris Fox"

From The Top - Oddisee & Stik Figa [Free EP]
Twitter: @oddisee & @Stik_Figa - 20 Tracks! It's HOT! Hook yourself up!
The EP:
Riding the success of "From The Top," the first single from the Mello Music Group compilation, Helpless Dreamer, and his mini-documentary released earlier this week, Stik Figa is treating fans with the release of the Oddisee produced From The Top, a brand new five-track EP - for free.
The EP starts out with the groovy, funk filled "Hot Mess," with Stik jumping right in the mix, spitting confident barbs while detailing his own dedication to the game as he raps, "I guess you asleep I was busy writing songs/ Turn the mic on, lay a vocal like a pipe bomb." Aside from the brags and boasts, Stik keeps it personal throughout the EP. "This is me, and this is where I'm from, love it or leave it," says Stik Figa. "I'm coming as I am, and this is the music that accompanies that feeling." The Topeka, Kansas rapper addresses funny money issues on "Bucket," while touching on the struggles of life in his hometown on "Running Away." "Topeka is a mid-sized blue-collar conservative city in the mid-west, so as a young black man, my childhood could at times best be described as awkward and isolated," says Stik.
Matching Stik's stylings step for step, Oddisee continues to show off his wide ranging production abilities, utilizing dusty drums and string, horn, and guitar chops throughout to create a multitude of mood-altering backdrop for Stik's musings. "The production Oddisee provides makes these moments fully realized moments," says Stik. "I'm excited for people to hear it, it's somewhat of a coming out party."
Stik Figa and Oddisee will also be releasing their own currently untitled album together in 2011. Stick Figa is also working with long time collaborator D/Will to release their album together titled, Crown & Coke.

The Artist:
"From a small Kansas town in the county of Shawnee..." -Stik Figa. The Midwest landlocked state of Kansas brings a few images to mind: yellow brick roads, tornadoes, cornfields and a dog named Toto. But rapper Stik Figa hopes to change the perception of the plain state with good, honest hip-hop music. Born in Ft. Campbell, Kentucky, John Westbrook, Jr. grew up in Topeka, the capital city of Kansas. While he lived in Topeka's central neighborhood of Elmhurst friend Tiwanne (RIP) gave him a copy of GZA's Liquid Swordz. Stik found the record abrasive, dangerous, introspective and smart. The experience changed how he viewed hip-hop and made him want to contribute. And contribute he has. Independent heavyweights El Da Sensei, Blackalicious, MURS and Phat Kat have all chosen Stik to open shows with his energetic flow. He's a member of many respected crews such as Fyte Club (Memphis) InnateSounds (Kansas City) The O's (Topeka) and Fly Boy Club (Wichita). Stik draws on a southern style mixed with a Midwest flavor. His first southern influence came from his parents who are from Arkansas and Tennessee. His mom even contributed to his moniker after she commented on his thin frame. She told him he looked like a stick figure. His other southern roots come from experience. Stik has performed in Virginia Beach, Va., and Tampa, Fla., where he won talent shows and battles. His southern stint honed his craft on the stage and molded him into what he is today. Stik claims Memphis, Tenn., as his second home. He says places in the south like Memphis helped to develop his style as likeable, down-to-earth and honest. "My music is meat and potatoes with a focus on skills and honesty, something sorely missing from today's current market," Stik says.

The Daylight EP - IMAKEMADBEATS [Free EP]
Twitter: @IMAKEMADBEATS
The EP:
Producer IMAKEMADBEATS, who calls both Memphis and Orlando home, is proud to release the free EP Daylight as the first half of his dual-EP concept album Daylight/Nightlight. Daylight/Nightlight takes a deep and honest look at the duality of life, manifested through the stories delivered by collaborators Butta Verses (the man behind Daylight’s lyrical duties who’s best known for his previous collaborative work with De La Soul), and Midaz The Beast, the voice of Nightlight. While the two EPs are being released separately in a radio edited digital format, IMAKEMADBEATS and Doxside Music Group will later release both for sale together in an unedited physical format.
Daylight finds Butta Verses introspectively assessing his life while addressing the positive changes he knows he must make. No stranger to life’s temptations, the Ft. Lauderdale-based emcee is aided by an emotionally charged, soulful IMAKEMADBEATS soundtrack, featuring piano, organ, and guest vocals that figuratively (and sometimes literally) take listeners to church. Songs like “Join Me” and “Awake” explore a more vibrant and upbeat sound, echoing the daylight theme. Later in the EP, slower, more introspective songs like “Hopeless” and “How is Your Soul” fade to darker colors as they approach Nightlight.
Following the dual-EP, IMAKEMADBEATS will drop his self-titled solo debut, featuring Black Milk, Von Pea of Tanya Morgan, Butta Verses, Hezekiah, and more on Doxside Music Group.

The Artist:
IMAKEMADBEATS has built his reputation on an obsessive dedication to his craft and a mad scientist-like approach to tweaking samples, drums, and live instruments - proving himself to be both a rapper's producer and a producer's producer. Most people first became aware of IMAKEMADBEATS from his 2009 collaborative project The Transcontinental with Oxnard rhyme-slinger Roc C (a project that featured the likes of Oh No, Big Pooh, Rakaa Iriscience, and Chino XL), which subsequently led to the nationwide Smash Mouf Tour. In addition to the much-anticipated forthcoming Doxside Music Group self-titled debut, IMAKEMADBEATS is also unleashing his dual-EP concept album Daylight/Nightlight, featuring Butta Verses and MidaZ the Beast respectively. Also in the works are projects with Beretta 9 (Wu-Tang's Killarmy), his BlakOut album with MidaZ, an instrumental project, and more placements on projects by artists seeking the "IMAKEMADBEATS" treatment to their music.

The Artist
The Left began as a simple phone conversation between two artists displaying mutual respect for each other's craft. Detroit staples Apollo Brown (Producer) and Journalist 103 (Emcee) turned the prospect of a couple random songs into an album considered by many tastemakers to be the best underground hip hop LP of 2010. Shortly after starting the album in early 2009, the duo brought in DJ Soko to provide cuts for the album and act as the official DJ for The Left's live performances. Gas Mask is indeed The Left's debut album, but the rookie producer Apollo Brown has certainly been accumulating accolades as of late. In 2008 he won the producer showcase at Scribble Jam. Then, in 2009, Apollo won the Detroit Red Bull Big Tune Championships and went on to the Atlanta Finals. In 2010 he signed with Mello Music Group and made waves with his scorching debut album, The Reset. Meanwhile, The Left's mic master, Journalist 103, is just as seasoned. Despite this being his first wide public display, he worked with the legendary Detroit emcee Proof of D12 before his passing.
